User Management can be found by navigating to the ‘Apps’ menu in the left side panel in Confluence.

## Connecting an Atlassian Organization

On the ‘Sources’ tab you can connect to several different sources for the users you want to manage. 

Connecting to an Organization source enables you to manage users in your Atlassian Organization from within the User Management app.

After pressing the 'Add Source' button, you'll be shown a form.

- **Source Name**: How it will be displayed in the app.
- **Connection Type**: Organization.
- **API Key**: Generate this from [admin.atlassian.com](https://admin.atlassian.com/) > Select Organization > Settings > API Key.
- **Select an “API Key without scopes”: **More info here: [Can I use an API Key with scopes?](https://techtime-website.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UM/pages/52953090)
- **Expiration Date**: API Keys are valid for the maximum of 1 year. Note the expiration for timely updates.

## Reports

Once you have connected to an Atlassian Organization you can navigate to the ‘Reports’ tab. 

The User Activity Report helps administrators quickly identify inactive or unmanaged users who may need review.

The Licensed User Report shows billed users across different cloud sites in your organization. This report is used to understand where licensed users are consuming product access and to support license optimization.

## User Search and Bulk Actions

Navigate to the ‘User Search and Bulk Actions’ tab.

To search for users, ensure that you have selected the source you want from the dropdown menu. 

Use the provided filters and click the 'Filter' button to narrow down the list of users. [FAQ for supported filters](https://techtime-website.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UM/pages/4620496).

Check the checkbox next to the users you want to perform the action on, then click 'Confirm Selection'.

After confirming the users you wish to perform actions on, you can now select which action to perform.

Some actions have additional configuration required or additional confirmation screens on the action being performed before proceeding. The below example is for the ‘Remove application access groups’ option, which requires you to select the product.

After confirming which groups to select or join and proceeding to the next screen, you'll be presented with a confirmation screen. Review the summary of the actions and click 'Confirm' to run the action.

## Scheduled actions

Under the ‘Scheduled Actions’ tab, you can view all of your configured automated actions. This is your main page for reviewing, adding, and managing recurring User Management automations.

When creating a new automated scheme, You must first configure a name and organization for the scheme and schedule the times and intervals at which it will run. 

The ‘User select’ step allows you to target specific users based on conditions such as never having logged in, inactivity over time, product-specific inactivity, product access, suspension status, deactivation status, or email domain rules.

The ‘Limit Results’ section allows you further include or exclude users by group, as well exclude specific users from being affected by your automated scheme.

Once you have identified the users that you intend to target, you can configure the action you wish for the automation to perform.

## Review Run Logs

Once a bulk user action has finished, the results can be reviewed within the 'Run logs' section. This can be found by either clicking 'View latest run log' button once the action has finished or by navigating to the 'Run logs' tab. 

You can narrow down to find specific run logs using a variety of filters.

View a run log see if each user action has succeeded, failed, or been skipped. If an action has failed, there is an additional 'details' button that will open a model to display more information on that action.
